Your questions, answered with care

Find clear, helpful answers to the most common questions about our medical-grade wigs, consultations, care, and ordering process—so you can shop with confidence.

CAN I MAKE A WIG OUT OF MY OWN HAIR?

Yes. For many women, this is one of the most meaningful options we offer.

We can transform your own hair into a custom wig, preserving your natural texture, color, and sense of self. It’s a way to hold onto a part of your identity during a time when so much is changing.

We’ll guide you through the process step by step, including when to begin and how to prepare, during your consultation.

WILL MY WIG LOOK NATURAL?

Yes. Creating a natural, undetectable result is at the core of what we do.

Each wig is fully customized to match your features, preferences, and personal style, from color and density to cut and movement. Our goal is not just to give you hair, but to help you look and feel like yourself.

Every piece is refined with precision and care, so it blends seamlessly and feels as natural as it looks.

HOW DO EXTENSIONS WORK AFTER CHEMO, AND HOW SOON CAN I GET THEM?

We offer trademarked extension techniques designed specifically for women recovering from medical hair loss.

Extensions can be applied with as little as 1/4 inch of hair regrowth, depending on your hair type and overall scalp health. For some; this means about 5-8 weeks after chemo is completed we can give you a full-head of extensions. During your consultation, we assess your readiness and create a plan that supports both your desired look and healthy hair recovery.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OAW AND HAIR WITH A CAUSE?

Oncology Aesthetics & Wellness (OAW) is our primary brand and service destination, providing luxury, personalized hair solutions including custom wigs, medical hair extensions, and ongoing restorative care.

Hair With A Cause is our foundation. It exists to expand access to these same services for women who may need additional financial or institutional support.

While OAW delivers the full experience, Hair With A Cause helps ensure more women can access that care through hospital partnerships, funding, and direct support.

DO YOU OFFER FINANCIAL SUPPORT OR PAYMENT OPTIONS FOR WIGS & EXTENSIONS?

Yes. We offer multiple pathways to make care more accessible.

Many of our wig and hair services are eligible for insurance reimbursement with approved prescriptions and providers. We also provide guidance to help you navigate that process.

Through our foundation, Hair With A Cause, select services may qualify for additional financial support for those who need it.

For wigs, we also offer flexible payment plans, allowing you to move forward with care in a way that feels manageable.

Gentle Care for Your Scalp

During chemotherapy, your scalp may become sensitive, dry, or tender. This is a normal part of the treatment process. Our staff provides guidance and support to help you maintain comfort and protect your scalp health throughout your hair loss journey.

  • Understand the changes your scalp may experience during treatment
  • Learn gentle care routines to minimize irritation and discomfort
  • Adjust hairpieces and wigs to prevent friction and pressure
  • Monitor for any signs that may require medical attention
