We make the process simple.
Insurance Reimbursement for Medical Wigs
Step 1
Purchase Your Wig
Select and purchase your wig online. Every wig purchase qualifies for reimbursement support from our team.
Step 2
Obtain a Prescription from Your Doctor
Ask your doctor for a prescription that includes wording such as:
“Full cranial alopecia induced as a result of chemotherapy treatment requiring a human hair cranial prosthesis.”
The wording may vary slightly, but it must indicate medical hair loss due to cancer treatment.
Step 3
We Handle the Paperwork With You
Once you receive your prescription, our team will:
- Collect your prescription
- Complete the necessary insurance forms
- Provide required documentation
- Submit everything directly to your insurance provider
You are not navigating this alone.
Step 4
Insurance Review Period
Most insurance providers take approximately 6 to 10 weeks to process reimbursement claims.
Timelines vary by provider.
Step 5
Receive Your Reimbursement Check
If approved, your insurance company will mail you a reimbursement check covering a percentage of your wig purchase.
Coverage amounts vary by provider and plan.
You may contact your insurance company ahead of time to ask:
- Do you reimburse for cranial prosthesis?
- What percentage is covered?
- Is there a maximum benefit amount?
Important Notes
- Every insurance provider is different
- Reimbursement is not guaranteed
- We assist with submission, but approval is determined by your insurer
